Berry Nice

Originally produced for Shoe Fanatic and published here.

The colour of wind-chapped cheeks and rosy lips, bright berry shades may scream summer but their wintery, mulberry counterparts tell a different story. Famously flattering, these muted hues are a firm favourite of festive fashion-lovers and look suitably chic in everything from underwear to outerwear. If you fancy donning warm berry shades from head to toe, check out some of our favourites for some inspiration.

As with any outfit, feeling confident in your clothes is all about having the right foundation. This gorgeous mulberry slip adds a touch of old-school luxury to everyday life, with silk covered buttons, scalloped edges and cream, lace trimming. A classy accompaniment to your favourite going out dress or something a little special for the bedroom, make lingerie work like Carrie with a string of pearls, tottering heels and a fur coat.

If you’re looking to wrap up this winter Dorothy Perkins should be your first stop. With plenty of kimonos, jackets, blazers, capes and duffels available, any shopoholic worth their salt can look stylishly snug when prowling the streets. Particular favourites include this draped kimono jacket and taped dolly coat. Both work as pretty cover ups over a party dress, or bring a splash of colour to skinny jeans and a woolly hat.

Topshop’s offering is predictably on-trend, with this patterned snood, belted pencil skirt and long sleeved sweater leading the pack. The midi-style skirt was all the rage at fashion week and offers cold-weather protection for chilly legs; snap it up and pair with thick tights and military boots for extra oomph.

No outfit is complete without killer heels and mulberry is easily one of the prettiest shades for shoes. These Aubergine shoe boots feature a gold zip detail as well as a gold tassel and fabulously fifties, these button courts add a patent shine to any ensemble. If you’re on the Autumn boot-hunt then consider these ruched knee-highs. Giving a burgundy tinge to any outfit, you’ll be in good hands and in-style.

If you fancy something a bit more casual check out Schuh for some ideas. These buckle ankle boots and double tongue converse low-tops will look sweet with chunky knits and woolly tights, or jeans and a blazer.
